Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside – Great Futures Start Here
Our mission is to enable all Coastside youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring responsible citizens.
History of The Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside
The Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside started in 1994. In the 2022-23 school year, the Club expects to have over 1000 registered members; and serve over 5,000 in the community through facilities and activities. During the Covi-d-19 pandemic, BGCC was recognized for our leadership in providing remote learning pods, WIFI, tutoring and access to internet during the remote learning. We are proud to have stepped up to offer sports to middle school students when CUSD eliminated funding for middle school sports.
Club Milestones
- We provide after school tutoring and mentoring daily to over 120 middle school students at Cunha.
- We are the proud sponsor of Cunha After School Sports. Last year 347 girls and boys participated on 28 teams in eight sports including basketball, cross country, flag football, soccer, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling.
- We operate a Teen Center for high school students that is a safe space to hang out, get help with homework, get connected with community service opportunities and college and career resources.
- We offer six weeks of traditional, old-fashioned summer fun camp for students in grades 4 to 9 where high school students can volunteer as junior camp counselors.
- Fees are kept modest and no one is ever turned away.
- We have a Makerspace STEAM lab at Cunha.
- We sponsor Half Moon Bay Soccer Club and Coastside Basketball, and a co-ed Golf program in collaboration with Half Moon Bay Golf Links.
- We have built and help maintain many of the significant sports facilities on the coast including the Cunha Soccer Complex, Event Center, HMBHS Baseball Field, HMBHS Softball Field, City of HMB Skate Park.
We have over 1,000 members and serve over 5,000 in the community through facilities and activities.
The Boys & Girls Club of the Coastside is proud to be affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America. We are an independent 501c3. All donations stay in the local community. Your donations make quality academic and sports programs accessible to all.
